Before reading any further, know the truck needs work.
2004 F250 6.
0 Powerstroke.
Going to be as honest as can be about the truck.
I have had it since 2014-2015.
In 2016, I spent $18,000 with with Wicked Diesel to do a complete bulletproofing with upgrades.
The truck ran for the years after with no major issues other than normal maintenance.
I had a company vehicle as a primary vehicle so the truck averaged about 5000 miles or less a year.
Never abused, never as much as taken in mud over a couple inches deep.
In 2021, I was doing an oil change and noticed some streaks of coolant coming down the degas bottle along with the Fass fuel pump leaking a little on the ground while idling.
Wicked replaced the pump, and while they had it I asked to test the pressure on the coolant system.
I was told the truck was fine, and it was a weak cap.
I continued to monitor the truck whenever I drove it.
The degas bottle continued show streaks of coolant.
Bad sign.
The truck had
about 20,000 miles put on it over the course of 2016 to 2021.
Not enough miles to have blown a head gasket for the money I spent, but years enough for them to not want to own up responsibility.
So be it.
I took it to Jet Diesel.
Just spent another $6000 in bulletproofing it.
Again.
One of the heads had a hairline crack in it, so I provided a new set of heads.
Brand new.
The truck lasted a little over a thousand miles, and has blown the head gasket.
Again.
Because I provided the heads, there is no warranty on the work.
I was told by a person with years of experience on diesels that if those heads were not shaved a few thousandths (which they werent) regardless of if they are Ford OEM, aftermarket or otherwise, the mating surfaces are not completely true and are prone to failure.
I found that out quick.
Long story long, I’m done trying.
The truck is in excellent condition, has 165k miles.
Hardly any for a 2004.
I can go into a long laundry list of what I have put in this truck.
The truck just needs to be done
right and I hope someone does.
The interior is pristine, $1200 in 4 new tires, new this new that, on and on.
If anyone is serious I will go into the list.
Documentation to back up any thing I say.
I will take $8000 for the truck.
When fixed and running right, in this condition and mileage, these pre DEF trucks are bring around $25,000.
Thank you for reading.
