Liberty University is seeking applicants for a fulltime Staff Tax Accountant to assist with tax compliance and reporting, primarily with state and local governments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1.
Preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns, tax payments, and claims for refunds.
2.
Reconciliation of tax liability accounts.
3.
Analysis of financial information relevant to the preparation of tax filings.
4.
Prepare, update and organize information that support tax filings and audit reporting.
5.
Provide assistance with tax notices or audits.
6.
Assist with preparation of year-end tax provision of various business entities.
7.
Research various federal and state tax-related issues.
8.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
1.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
2.
Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in accounting or tax compliance.
3.
Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment.
4.
Must have the flexibility to work extra hours if needed to meet deadlines.
5.
High competency with Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel and Word.
6.
Excellent organizational skills and document skills.
7.
Excellent communication skills; both written and oral.
8.
Ability to articulate and defend the unique Christian educational mission and vision of Liberty University and its subsidiaries to a wide variety of individuals and groups.
9.
Individual must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan.
10.
Individual must not be convicted of, or pled nolo contendere or guilty to, a crime involving the acquisition, use, or expenditure of federal, state, or local government funds, -or- be administratively or judicially determined to have committed fraud or any other material violation of law involving federal, state, or local government funds (CFR 668.
14(b)(18)(i)).
Preferred Qualifications:
1.
1-3 years’ experience with corporate income tax compliance and experience with other tax issues and reporting.
2.
Higher education accounting related experience.
