Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded.
Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
Assists in the preparation of Statements of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, Statement of Cash Flows and other financial reports.
Performs intermediate to advanced range of account analysis and reconciliations.
Participates in the closing processes and in the preparation and review of schedules prepared for external audits.
Coaches and mentors staff accountants.
Requires a bachelor's degree along with a Masters in a business discipline and/or CPA certification.
Reports to Manager of Accounting.
Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.
Requires 7+ years of related experience.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1.
Intermediate to advanced range of account analysis and reconciliations.
2.
Month and Year end closing process and audits, along with monitoring and review of PBC’s for audits.
3.
Create and establish accounting systems, procedures, and accounting controls.
4.
Apply advanced knowledge of GAAP and Financial Accounting Standards, practices and procedures; assist in implementing new standards.
5.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel including advanced features along with solid experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
6.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May be requested to supervise the work of other accountants on specific projects.
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
A bachelor's degree in accounting and a CPA certificate or master's degree in a business discipline required.
Must have 7+ years' accounting experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, and extensive problem-solving skills.
Individual must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan.
Individual must not be convicted of, or pled nolo contendere or guilty to, a crime involving the acquisition, use, or expenditure of federal, state, or local government funds, -or- be administratively or judicially determined to have committed fraud or any other material violation of law involving federal, state, or local government funds (CFR 668.
14(b)(18)(i)).
Higher education and banner experience is preferred, as well as fluency in Spanish or ASL.
Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Excellent computer and organizational skills.
Regularly required to lift 10 or fewer pounds.
