POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title: Bookkeeper/Secretary: School Building Level
Reports To: Principal
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Summary: To assure smooth and efficient operation of the school’s finances with
respect to all duties which may be assigned to the bookkeeper
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
1.
Prepares Federal Programs, state, and local reimbursements
2.
Completes requisitions for purchasing materials/supplies for the school
3.
Types records, accounting statements, and vouchers
4.
Corresponds with school personnel when materials are ordered
5.
Maintains a complete bookkeeping system for the school
6.
Verifies, allocates, and posts details of financial transactions to subsidiary accounts in computer files from such documents as sales slips, invoices, receipts, and computer printouts
7.
Summarizes details in separate ledgers or computer files and transfers data to general ledger
8.
Reconciles and balances accounts
9.
Compiles reports to show statistics such as expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and other information pertinent to school’s operation
10.
Prepares a financial summary report of all accounts

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
1.
Experience in clerical office work and general knowledge of bookkeeping procedures
2.
The ability to type proficiently
3.
The ability to operate office machines related to bookkeeping

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve month employment.
Salary to be determined by the School Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of the position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Prince Edward County School Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
