PLDR Law seeks an experienced bookkeeper, billing specialist, or finance professional with exposure to various law practice areas to ensure a strong financial foundation for our growing, fast-paced, and innovative law firm.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
Reporting to PLDR's Chief Operating Officer, the Finance and Accounting Specialist will be responsible for the firm’s day-to-day bookkeeping, including Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Account Reconciliation, Accepting and Depositing Funds, and Payroll.
The Finance and Accounting Specialist will use the firm’s practice management system and accounting software to record transactions and prepare standard reports as directed by the COO.
The ideal candidate understands that you cannot manage what you do not measure – and can support our efforts to build systems that ensure we are most effective, efficient, and strategic.
This job could be part-time or full-time depending on the successful candidate’s willingness and skills regarding non-traditional bookkeeping tasks, like tracking production, marketing, and client satisfaction metrics.
*Responsibilities*
* Prepares invoices
* Edits prebills to include: corrections, write-off of time entries, mark hours up or down, transfer entries, and apply trust monies
* Prepares monthly retainer billing
* Runs and distributes reminder statements
* Enters client payments into the accounting system, prepares the bank deposit, balances daily reports, and upon approval, assures that the deposit is delivered to the bank.
* Inputs all payrolls into payroll system
* Codes, verifies, and enters expense invoices and check request
* Prepares daily or weekly check runs for accounts payable
* Guides paralegals in establishing payment protocol and client payment plans
* Provides data to COO to track strategic projects and determine ROI
* Provide general support to clients and visitors in person, over the phone, and online
* Organize and maintain financial files
*Skills*
* Proven experience as a financial professional
* Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
* Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish information in report format, in written correspondence, via email, or verbally
* Willingness to learn and expand knowledge and skills
* Prior law firm experience preferred
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
* Proficient with technology and ability to learn our software systems
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to motivate groups of people to complete a project in a timely manner
* Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and MacOS systems
* Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills
* Friendly with a strong commitment to customer service
* Ability to lift 25 lbs
* Access to a vehicle and willingness to drive to complete firm-related tasks
