*Job Summary:*
The Managing Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions including but not limited to: performing general ledger accounting and bank statement reconciliations; preparing journal entries and financial statements; creating and maintaining periodic reporting; maintaining fixed asset system; assisting with annual budgeting; maintaining various grants and assisting with grant applications and expenditures reporting; preparing statistical and financial reports for the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors and agencies; maintaining records retention; and assisting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in preparation of miscellaneous confidential correspondences.
The Managing Senior Accountant will also be responsible for supervising the general Accounting staff to ensure adherence to accounting and payroll policies and practices.
May be assigned to other special projects or duties as assigned by the CFO.

*Essential Job Duties & Functions:*
* Utilizes accounting and payroll system, EMR, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
* Approves all Accounts Payable and Cash receipt transactions.
* Performs various complex account analyses and reconciliations.
Analyzes and maintains all accounts of the General Ledger and Balance Sheet.
* Performs monthly bank reconciliations and daily cash control reports.
* Provides principal oversight of and reviews the payroll process regularly and ensures payments to staff promptly.
* Audits payroll procedures.
Makes suggestions in payroll policies and procedures and recommends corrective actions as necessary.
* Tracks and monitors changes in accounting and payroll laws and regulations which may call for organization policy modifications and informs appropriate management.
* Manages all members of the accounting staff and provides daily support with recurring accounting and payroll duties.
* Completes the month-end closing process, conducting research and making correction journal entries for account discrepancies, prepares closing journal entries, posts accrual entries, and prepares financial statements and various monthly reports.
* Maintains fixed asset system, which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger to fixed assets system, and preparation of depreciation schedules for budgeting and financial reporting purposes.
* Coordinates and maintains grant accounting and reports; verifies all expenditures are complete and reconciled to the general ledger; and completes complex grant expense reports as required by the grantors.
* Assures that all grant revenue and expenditure transactions follow HRSA regulations and GAAP.
* Prepares various financial documents for compliance with HRSA regulations and other grant requirements.
* Assists with and coordinates the annual audit.
* Uses statistical, economic and financial principles and techniques to prepare reports including the federal Uniform Data System reports.
* Works closely with the Information System Specialists to provide complex analysis and reasonableness tests.
