Public Liaison Assistant - Part Time

JOB Under general supervision, the purpose of the Public Liaison Assistant position is the delivery of professional police services to the public while also providing administrative assistance to police officers and various other tasks as assigned.
Shift: Rotating shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays The Town of Blacksburg is an EEO Employer M/F/D/V EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Serves as the first point of contact for all incoming visitors to the Police DepartmentReceives inquiries from the general public in person and by telephone and directs them to the appropriate resourcesOperates and monitors VCIN/NCIC, computer aided dispatch (CAD) software, and digital mapping softwareOperates and monitors several radio frequencies for police, fire, and rescue within the town as well as monitoring radio frequencies from surrounding jurisdictionsReceives and transmits police messages by radio and telephone, directs officers on duty to meet a variety of problems requiring police actionAssist police officers by researching and obtaining information through various computer software programsPerforms clerical duties and maintains various logsCreates and maintains daily intelligence bulletins and forwards information to appropriate personnelMonitors alarm systems located in various business establishmentsMonitors and operates security cameras for various locations SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION This position requires long periods of sitting or standing in one place with movement restricted to a specific area when working alone.
Must be able to visually monitor several computer screens and security camera feeds.
