Bedford, VA 24523 Hours: 11:30am - 8:00pm Position Summary Maintains a clean and orderly environment for the residents, staff, and guests.
Performs a variety of housekeeping activities such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, polishing, sorting laundry, washing laundry, folding laundry, emptying soiled bins, disposing of trash and recyclables, emptying biohazard products, stocking consumables, maintaining inventory, and similar related tasks.
Monitors all areas of the Nursing Home for potential infection control concerns.
Work is performed under the direction of the Support Services Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Monitors and responds to cleaning and infection control concerns.
Receives and follows cleaning and/or laundry assignments as directed.
Cleans and stores all equipment and supplies.
Ensures all rooms, offices, and living spaces are cared for according to proper cleaning standards.
Checks stock levels of all consumables and replaces when appropriate.
Adheres strictly to rules regarding health and safety.
Works quickly without compromising quality.
Organizes and prioritizes work for the day and is flexible to adjust accordingly.
Commits to a detail-oriented regime.
Maintains a high level of energy and stamina.
Develops interpersonal skills with residents, staff, and guests.
Operates mechanized cleaning equipment.
Shampoos carpets and furniture to extract stains and to enhance sanitation.
Distribute linens, towels, and supplies.
Properly collects and disposes of waste.
Removes dirty items from resident rooms, soiled utility rooms, and dining rooms.
Cleans windows, doors, vents, baseboards, privacy curtains, shades, and other surfaces.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Participates in employee meetings and training.
Notifies nursing staff of any resident situation that requires nursing assistance.
Assists with setting up, breaking down, and cleaning up after special events.
Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by management.
Participates in employee meetings and training as needed.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Meets attendance requirements and maintains the highest level of dependability.
Consistently demonstrates ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, and reprioritizes work as necessary.
Qualifications Education / Experience High school diploma or the equivalent.
Knowledge / Skills/ Abilities Preferred knowledge and background in commercial housekeeping and/or laundry in a health care setting.
Ability to understand oral and written directions; ability to read write; ability to work with minimal supervision; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques, and methods.
