Cobol Programmer (C)

Main Sail has an immediate opening for a COBOL Programmer or Analyst to support the BWXT Nuclear Operations Group Lynchburg (NOGL) Quality Control (QC) system conversion from an IBM mainframe to SAP.
Main Sail is a Veteran-owned small business with 20+ years of experience supporting Defense and Energy systems and missions.
BWXT NOGL provides safe and effective nuclear solutions for national security, clean energy, environmental remediation, nuclear medicine and space exploration.
Responsibilities: Conduct an analysis of the existing COBOL program, databases, and processes.
Review and document the existing COBOL code base, ensuring that the system logic and functionalities are captured.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the current system functionalities and business logic.
Assist in extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from the COBOL-based system to the SAP environment.
Support testing, ensuring that the migrated data and functionalities in the new system align with the legacy system.
Qualifications: 4+ years relevant COBOL and IDMS experience.
Experience with Mainframe to SAP migration projects a plus but not essential Availability to travel weekly to Lynchburg VA (if not residing local).
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
Location: Lynchburg VA.
4-day work week, flexible, but NO REMOTE work.
Period of Performance: Approximate start 11/15/2023 with 1+ year anticipated project duration.
