Job Title: Driver Apprentice

Summary Learns to drive truck to transport materials to and from specified destinations in apprenticeship program.
Learns to perform the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Understands and complies with CSE Inc.
Safety Program, rules, regulations and updates.
a.
Understands OSHA and DOT standards relating to transportation and fleet safety; works within current regulations
b.
Becomes familiar with supervisory personnel, job activity to be performed, hazard communication program, safety rules and regulations, and emergency action procedures.
c.
Operates tractor, trailer, forklifts, and/or JLG-type man-lifts, and/or scissor-lifts and/or similar equipment.
d.
Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations
e.
Assembles, dissembles, and transports loads.
f.
Loads and unloads truck in a safe and controlled manner to ensure safety of personnel and property.
g.
Performs daily inspection on truck, equipment, and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water; completes defect reports for any deficiencies and returns form to dispatch office.
h.
Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
i.
Washes and fuels truck upon return to yard.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: Technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Commercial Driver's License.
Must meet CSE, Inc.
MVR guidelines.
Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel.
