Truck Driver

The Amherst County Department of Public Works is seeking a full-time Truck Driver to join our team! This position requires a high school diploma and GED and a Class A or B commercial driver’s license with an air brake endorsement.
Experience operating dump trucks is also required.
Experience in the operation of heavy equipment used in waste management is a plus but is not required for hire.
Duties include but are not limited to operating dump trucks and roll-off vehicles, delivering solid waste and recyclables from County convenience centers, schools and other agencies to the County landfill and/or transporting recyclables from the landfill to designated collection facilities.
During down times, the truck driver also assists where needed with other landfill and/or convenience center duties.
Safety, punctuality and attendance are important requirements of the job.
The ability to interact in a professional manner with the public and co-workers is essential.
This is a full time position with a required Saturday rotation.
The hiring range is $47,115 to $50,077 and is negotiable based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
