Under supervision of the Director of Aviation Maintenance Technician Program, the Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructor will develop and maintain curriculum, and to provide instruction to students during classroom, lab, and shop training within Liberty University’s FAA approved 14 CFR Part 147 curriculum to prepare students for careers as Aviation Maintenance Technicians and related fields.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to grading, tracking and documenting FAA required attendance, make-up time and material, and associated forms.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1.
Instruct students in all aspects of 14 CFR Part 147 required Airframe and Power Plant Certification course including classroom lecture
2.
Lead and direct students in the completion of hands-on lesson-associated lab projects by demonstration and supervision
3.
Evaluate and grade student’s performance in Subject Areas taught.
4.
Document FAA attendance-based AMT program including the coordination of make-up time and material with students
5.
Provide relevant information and feedback to the Director regarding student progress in projects, including grading and record keeping
6.
Prepare 14 CFR Part 147 Airframe and Power Plant Certification course lessons, associated training aids and equipment for demonstration to, or for use by students
7.
Research and order materials for training aids, equipment, and lesson-associated lab projects
8.
Advise and recommend to the director regarding the purchase and procurement of equipment, materials, and supplies for use in training
9.
Teach, or assist in teaching, class or projects for General, Airframe, and Powerplant Subject Areas for which he is approved (per FAA approved LU AMTS OFFICIALS LIST , on file in the Director’s office.
)
10.
Oversee and supervise assigned lab assistant(s) for Subject Areas teaching
11.
Assist in training new Instruction Staff and Faculty in the use and operation of training aids and equipment
12.
Perform other related duties as assigned by Director
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
FAA mechanic certification with both Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
Experience in aviation maintenance field or equivalent in commercial, mission or military environment.
Four-year college degree preferred.
