*The Next Leader of Bedford County Public Schools:* After reviewing input from administrators, board members, community members, parents, support staff, students, and teachers via town halls, and the online survey, the school board of Bedford County Public Schools is seeking an educational leader who possesses the following characteristics, attributes and skills.
_Skills and Characteristics_ ● Strong communication and conflict resolution skills ● Leads by example through honest practices ● Successful experience as a teacher or principal _Value Traits as a Leader_ ● Accountable and responsible for actions ● School and District administrative leadership experience _Instructional Leadership_ ● Ability to identify and address behavioral issues ● Ability to identify and drive academic success ● Track record of success in improving student outcomes _Management and Operations_ ● Successful experience including others in planning and decision making ● Understand and address teacher/staff pay ● Building(s) repair and improvement _Family and Community Engagement_ ● Empowers others by promoting team strengths and “student first” approach ● Create strong school and community relations ● Understands the dynamics and culture of Bedford County *Minimum Qualifications:* ● Education: Meet VDOE requirements to serve as superintendent ● Experience: Completed five years of successful educational experience in a public or an accredited nonpublic school, two years of which must be full-time teaching experience at the preK-12 level, and two years of which must be in administration and supervision *Interested candidates need to submit the items listed below to:* superintendent-search@bedford.
