Maple Hall Academy is seeking a part-time or full time Culinary Arts Teacher.
Ideal candidates have experience teaching skills to match a passion for cooking and working with adolescents.
_Pay Scale: _$18.
27 - $25.
91 _Schedule:_ Monday - Friday *Summary* The Culinary Arts Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing appropriate lessons for the student population based on the MHA Curriculum Guide and Performance Standards.
The Teacher will also maintain a physically and emotionally safe environment for students while adhering to the structure of the daily schedule.
MHA Teachers will work in conjunction with other academic team members, clinicians, and direct care staff with the supervision, implementation, and facilitation of classroom activities, while identifying and intervening in potential crisis situations.
_Job Duties and Responsibilities:_ * Planning: * Create appropriate lesson plans for the age/ability level of each group of students.
* Collaborate with other academic team members to create cross-curricular opportunities within units.
* Ensure that sufficient materials are available during lessons.
* Prepare research/media opportunities within the units.
* Develop and utilize varied assessment tools within each unit.
* Ensure that appropriate accommodations for each learner are in place per ILP, IEP, or 504 plans.
* Classroom Management: * Provide a nurturing environment with firm boundaries.
* Ensure proper supervision of students for safety.
* Build rapport with students.
* Interact with students fairly and objectively, considering his/their individual needs.
* Assist students in problem solving and identifying solutions to peer conflicts.
* Provide students with clear, specific and timely feedback in a respectful manner.
* Accompany and monitor activities, and whereabouts, on and off campus, of students with line of sight policy within reason at all times.
* Role model healthy boundaries, interactions, and respectful communication.
* Re-direct student(s) if he/they attempt(s) to leave class or become disruptive.
* Effectively communicate choices to students, outlining positive and negative consequences of his/their choices.
* Implement treatment plan of student(s).
* Documentation: * Assess academic data to create justifiable numeric grade reports.
* Provide written ?teacher comments? for report cards.
* Gather anecdotal evidence that can be used in Treatment Team meetings.
* Complete incident reports as needed.
* Attend, participate in and complete all mandatory staff meetings/trainings as directed.
