POSITION SUMMARY
Provides support and paraprofessional work while assisting classroom teachers or other professionals to achieve instructional objectives, and while assisting students with achieving established goals.
Perform other duties as needed, and serve as backup as needed and assigned by the principal or other administrator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist classroom teachers in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives.
Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by teachers.
Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by teachers.
Assist with large and small group activities.
Guide independent study and other work assigned by teachers.
Report and assist with student problems.
Assist with loading and unloading buses.
Supervise students during unstructured time such as lunch, recess and transitions.
Performed related work as required, Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
Help maintain order in the classroom, monitor students to keep them on task.
Perform related work as required and any other duties as assigned by the principal or appropriate administrator.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility; or an Associate’s Degree; or successfully completed the ParaPro assessment.
Some experience working with children.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Prior experience working with children is preferred.
