Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.

Objective of the position:
The Vice President (VP) serves as chief academic officer of the College, The VP is responsible for the overall oversight of the instructional, student services, and workforce units of the College.
Essential duties of the position:
· Provides leadership for the academic, student affairs, and workforce units of the College as well as leadership for college or system-wide initiatives.
· Works closely with faculty to ensure a positive, caring and supportive learning environment.
· Provides vision and leadership for student-centered learning both on campus, off campus and online.
· Provides strategic leadership for all academic, student services, and workforce development departments.
· Provides leadership, motivation, recruitment, supervision, evaluation, and professional development for directly reporting employees within these units.
· Performs management functions including administration of budgets and approval of faculty workload and productivity, both for full-time and adjunct faculty, as well as overall responsibility for course scheduling and faculty reassigned time.
· Provides direction, on-going monitoring, and support related to planning, executing, monitoring, and evaluating instructional programs.
· Maintains and develops relationships and partnerships with regional school divisions and partner public and private universities.
· Advises the president on plans, policies, and procedures for the execution of institutional goals and the mission of the College.
· Serves on the president’s leadership team and other committees (internal and external).
· Attends regional and state meetings to represent Central Virginia Community College in matters of academic and student affairs importance.
· Plays a key role in ensuring the academic, student affairs, and workforce units are meeting accreditation standards and reporting requirements.
· Uses data to make informed and strategic decisions.
· Helps develop, articulate, and advance the long-range vision and goals for Academics, Student Affairs, Workforce, and Central Virginia Community College.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required qualifications for the position:
· An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution
· Demonstrated leadership and experience in academic, student affairs, or workforce at the dean/director level or above
· Strong fiscal management linking resource allocations to planning and priorities
· Experience ensuring compliance with regional and program-level accrediting agencies
· Understanding of and commitment to the mission and vision of Central Virginia Community College
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working directly with faculty and instructional programs
· Demonstrated commitment to student success, innovative teaching, and student support practices
· Successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level
