Network Administrator II
The University of Lynchburg, a private regional university, located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia is seeking a full-time Network Manager to join our Information Technology Resources team.
The Network Manager reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by ITR Chief Information Officer.
The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by ITR Chief Information Officer.
It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior.
Job Type: Full-time, Exempt, Benefits Eligible
Job Purpose:
Support, manage, and with appropriate guidance, design and implement a large, complex university network infrastructure; including switches, routers, wireless access points
Responsible for daily administration of the university network/server environment, including wired and wireless environments, physical and virtual servers, and cloud applications such as Cisco Umbrella
Monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues and deploys solutions
Specific Job Duties:
Works with supervisor to plan and implement timely upgrades, patches, and installation of new applications and equipment.
Participates in and implements as directed, the development of the disaster recovery, security, and backup and restore plans
Assists with firewall administration and IT security work as directed
Works with support vendors to drive problem resolution
Remains current with information technology and seeks to apply current technology solutions, with direction, to University IT problems by researching, evaluating, estimating costs, and timelines to accomplish chosen solutions.
Annual Salary: Up to $75,000 annually

Physical Demands:

Minimum Experience:
3-5 years of related experience
Relevant industry certifications
Experience with VPN, cloud, and IP protocols
Experience with network services such as DNS and DHCP
Work Remotely:
Negotiable
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
One Industry recognized certification
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
Multiple certifications - Network+, CCNA preferred
