gov/careers Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties This position will typically work Monday through Friday, 6 hours a day.
This is an hourly wage position (no benefits) that can work up to 1,500 hours between May 1st and April 30th each year.
Position will perform receptionist duties answering a multi-line phone system, greeting visitors, and processing daily mail.
Position will provide support to the Lynchburg District Business Services Office by validating and performing data input.
Transactions may include time and attendance, accounts payable, SPCC, travel expenses, and other related fiscal service transactions.
Position will interpret and apply basic policies and procedures related to financial transactions and general business operations.
Assist in records retention cleanup/maintenance and auditing financial data.
Additional vacancies in the Business Services Section may be filled from this applicant pool within 90 days of the closing date.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of general office and program support activities.
Knowledge of multi-line phone systems.
Ability to interpret and apply accounting principles and methods to meet fiscal and business needs.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to accurately and efficiently perform data entry into automated financial systems.
Ability to greet internal and external customers courteously and professionally and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain orderly and easily accessible files, as well as purge and dispose of files in accordance with record retention guidelines and schedules.
Ability to multi-task and work well under deadlines.
Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include automated financial and inventory software.
Skill in providing exceptional customer service and conflict resolution.
Additional Considerations Experience tracking time and attendance.
Experience in accounting or business operations to include internal controls and compliance.
Experience using Microsoft Windows, MS Office, and PeopleSoft software.
