(SY 23-24) Substitute Instructional Assistant GENERAL INFORMATION Title: (SY 23-24) Substitute Instructional Assistant Department: Human Resources Salary Grade: Substitute Pay Schedule FLSA Status: Exempt Site/Location: Lynchburg City Schools Reports to: Principal Date: 08/31/2023 POSITION SUMMARY Perform responsible human support and paraprofessional work while assisting classroom teachers or other professional to achieve instructional objectives; assist regular or special population students with achieving established goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or underaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives.
Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce material introduced by teacher.
Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by teacher.
Assist with large and small group activities.
Guide independent study and other work assigned by teacher.
Report student problems to the teacher and assists with student problems.
Assist with loading and unloading buses.
Supervises students during unstructured time such as lunch and recess.
Assist with student routines.
Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Prior experience working with children, preferred.
