POSITION SUMMARY
Performs paraprofessional work while assisting classroom teachers and assistant students in achieving established goals.
This position may also assist students with disabilities on a one-on-one basis to achieve established educational goals and objectives, with personal care and mobility, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the supervision of a classroom teacher and evaluated by the school principal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives.
Works with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning objectives introduced by the teacher.
Provides programmed practice activities and repetitions as developed by the teacher.
Assists with large and small group activities.
Guides independent study and other work assigned by the teacher.
Reports student problems to the teacher and assists with student problems.
Assists with loading and unloading buses.
Supervises students during unstructured time such as lunch, recess, and transitions.
Assists with student routines.
Performs related work as required.
Assist in establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
Help maintain order in the classroom; monitor students to keep them on task.
Assist students with personal care.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility, or an Associate’s Degree, or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
Prior experience working with children is preferred.
