Position Summary: Many people do not have enough support to live a healthy life in recovery from substance use disorders.
Take action by offering your time and talent as a Recovery Navigator.
As someone who knows what it’s like to build a healthy life in recovery, you can help others do the same through mentoring, peer support and resource navigation.
We are currently recruiting for the 2023-24 program year with opportunities beginning in August, October or January.
This is an AmeriCorps member position with Recovery Corps.
You’ll join an amazing cohort of Recovery Navigators from all backgrounds and experiences.
What to Expect: Support individuals in recovery from substance use disorder with personalized recovery plans.
Assist clients in navigating social services resources, programs, and benefit systems.
Foster strong relationships with clients to help build their confidence and skills, while encouraging them to have agency over their own recovery.
Gain valuable professional experience while embedded in a local recovery organization.
Participate in training and professional development throughout the year, including the Peer Recovery Support training.
Share your experience with the wider community as a Recovery Corps ambassador.
Perks Package: While your clients benefit from peer-to-peer services, you’ll be rewarded with more than just a sense of satisfaction.
Serve as a Recovery Navigator and receive a scalable perks package based on your time commitment of 40 or 25 hours per week.
40 hours/week perks: A stipend of $1,200 paid every 2 weeks $27,600 total for 1,700 hours of service starting in August 2023 $22,800 total for 1,200 hours of service starting October 2023 $15,600 total for 900 hours of service starting January 2024 Up to $6,895 for tuition or student loans* $6,895 total for members beginning their service in August 2023 $4,826 total for members beginning their service in October 2023 $3,447 total for members beginning their service in January 2024 Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment Individual health insurance — Monthly premium 100% covered Child care assistance — Based on family size and income *The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans.
Individuals 55+ at the start of their service term may gift their award to their child, grandchild, foster child or stepchild.
What it Takes: Our Navigators come from all walks of life.
The most important qualification is a passion to take action for your community – and meet the following minimum qualifications.
By the time they begin their service, our Navigators are: Dependable and have a history of good attendance Able to understand and follow instructions Able to set a pace and maintain a service schedule of 40 or 25 hours per week, depending on the agreed upon hours commitment Recovered for at least one uninterrupted year from a substance use disorder by the start date Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), completing internet searches and navigating resources online, completing data entry, experience with using e-mail regularly, including sending attachments, comfort with database and software use, and experience with using videoconferencing software and attending training online.
Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing English fluently 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States* Able to successfully complete a background check *Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.
S.
Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.
