The Accounts Payable Office Assistant position is a non-exempt position in the University Accounting office that is responsible for the front desk coverage, incoming mail distribution, outgoing check distribution, and any other assistance as needed to the Accounts Payable team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1.
Greets visitors and answers any general questions at front desk.
2.
Daily sorts mail for the Accounts Payable department and distributes to the appropriate AP processor.
Researches returned checks for updated addresses.
3.
Finishes processing of the Bank C check runs after the checks are signed by accounting.
4.
Organizes check distribution including mailing, contacting payees for checks to be picked up, obtaining signatures as necessary, and handling special mailing situations such as certified, FedEx, registered, etc.
5.
Researches and provides answers to questions regarding Infor expense checks.
6.
Maintains records for incentive reporting for any individuals receiving awards or prizes from Liberty University.
7.
Reviews daily Wire and ACH posting registers for accuracy prior to filing.
8.
Coordinates with student workers whenever necessary for front desk coverage.
9.
May be asked to maintain several small vendor accounts on an as needed basis.
10.
Helps with special assignments as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Customer Service experience
Associates Degree in Accounting
Fluent in Spanish or American Sign Language
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word
Strong oral and written communication and customer service skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to articulate and defend the unique
Christian educational mission and vision of Liberty University and its subsidiaries to a wide variety of individuals and groups.
Individual must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan
